The best part of Doctor Who Episode “Utopia”…
Doctor: Why are you taking off your clothes?
Harkness: I’m going in.
Doctor: Yeah, but the radiation only effects flesh. Not clothes.
Harkness: Yeah, but I look good!

Yes, yes you do.

The Nicest “No”

I have just received the kindest “declination letter” of my querying career. It is with a mixture of disappointment and amusement that I share it here, with you all.

Dear Lexi,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to consider MONARCH (great title btw!). I appreciate your patience in allowing me to fully read through these sample pages and give your project the ample attention it deserves, and I apologize for the length of time that it has taken me to respond.

I thought you had a really interesting premise and though I am impressed with your creativity, I just didn’t quite fall in love with the story as much as I hoped. As you know, this is a highly subjective decision and another agent or editor may have a completely different opinion from mine.

Again, thank you for giving me the chance to consider your work and I wish you every success in placing it!

Sincerely,

The Doctor, Harry Potter, and Stitch.
Yeah I’m good.

Sherlock, Rapunzel and the Cabin Crew.
aw yeah.

Ashley (anthropologist from Excavation by James Rollins), Shepard (female), and Doctor Venture. Can I switch for Brock? I think I’m set with just Shepard. She was born for a zombie apocalypse.

Bugs Bunny, Quorra & RuPaul (I guess… who would be the protagonist of Drag Race?)I think I’m pretty set!  If anything, Quorra can just throw me and identity disc and we’ll derezz the shit out of some zombies

The Doctor, Jack Harkness and Olive Penderghast. I think I’ve got this whole zombie thing DOWN. I mean, The Doctor? Please, born for zombie slaying! Harkness? Well, he’d probably try to hook up with one before killing them. I wonder if he could become a zombie… Hmmm… Test! And Olive? Yeah, Zombieland anyone. She can get my back any day.

A 29th Birthday Challenge

When I was in highschool my creative writing teacher made us keep a writing journal. It didn’t have to be a “dear diary” or anything like that. Each day it could be something different; a short story, a poem, a letter to myself. It could be anything.

After I graduated I stopped writing in journals. I turned my back on all the creativity that such discipline would have offered and I moved on to novels. I never really looked back. Everyone once in awhile I would turn my gaze back to journals. I would attempt to persuade myself that it was for my own good, but ultimately I would neglect the idea after a few days.

This time is different. I am challenging myself to keep a journal for 365 days. From this birthday until the next one. It will not be a “dear diary” kind of thing, more of a creative juices kind of thing. But it’s a challenge, it is first and foremost a “willpower” thing.
